Dave Platt started his career by joining the military back in 1979. He served as a Warrant Officer Class 2 with the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers specialising in the repair and maintenance of heavy tracked vehicles namely the Chieftain and Challenger tanks, and armoured personnel carriers. After 9 and a half years as a Training Safety Advisor for the Brigade Headquarters at Chetwynd Barracks, Chilwell in Nottingham, he now dedicates his time to military history and research.

His enthusiasm and passion for military history and motorcycles has been the perfect combination to take tours of like minded bikers to the battlefields of France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. Dave has been taking tours on motorbikes for the last 20 years, leading groups of up to 8 riders from the very moment they get off the ferry. Riding great roads, visiting places of interest relevant to specific battles, Dave not only shows everyone a great time but also imparts his wealth of knowledge and experience with all those who participate.

Dave is also an associate member of the Guild of Battlefield Guides and the European Tourism Association (ETOA). Click on the Guild Badge below for more information on what the Guild of Battlefield Guides is all about.
